ORGANISERS were delighted with the success of an annual raft race in the North-east.
The River Don race – from Kemnay to Inverurie’s Don Bridge – which is organised by the Garioch Lions,
saw around £6,000 raised for cancer and kidney research charities.
The 35th event saw the group’s fundraising efforts reach the £95,000 mark – and organisers said they will break their £100,000 target next year.
Fundraising convener Jim Souter said: “It was just super. We had 29 rafts entered and 26 of them finished the race.
“A variety of different rafts entered this year which was great.
“There were also a lot of people who turned out to cheer the rafters on at the finish line.”
