HUNDREDS of budding scientists in Aberdeen city and shire are taking part in a variety of workshops and experiments this week.
Around 550 pupils are putting their skills into practice at Chemistry at Work, which is being held at Aberdeen University.
The four-day event has several secondary schools taking part in a variety of experiments to find out the importance of chemistry in different careers.
Industry professionals provided hands-on activities and gave presentations to pupils from Albyn School and Kemnay Academy yesterday.
Schools in Peterhead, Turriff, Oldmeldrum, Banff and Aberdeen will also take part.
Chemistry at Work is organised by TechFest-SetPoint and supported by The Royal Society of Chemistry.
A spokeswoman for TechFest-SetPoint, a charity which delivers workshops in science, technology, engineering and mathematics, said it has been a success so far.
She said: “Some schools are doing finger printing, some are taking part in lab work. We are holding around three or four presentations each morning and it has been really good.
“The pupils get to take part in a huge variety of experiments and are being given the opportunity to get some hands-on experience.”
