Circus takes magician back to his roots

THE circus has come to the Highland capital – and for one act it will be the first chance to perform on his family’s home soil.

Magician Ross Presto is part of Gerry Cottle’s Circus, which will be based at the Bught Park until July 11. Presto’s grandmother Margaret Bennett was born and brought up in Inverness, although she now lives in Gosport, England.

But her sister, Molly, now in her 90s, still lives in the city, and Presto plans to visit her for the first time since 1994.

Presto took up magic as a hobby when he was younger and joined his first circus in 1995, performing as a clown and juggler before developing his illusion act three years ago. Gerry Cottle’s Circus’s visit to Inverness is part of the company’s first Scottish tour since 1994.

The show will also feature gymnasts, acrobats and trapeze artists. Tickets are available from the box office on site from 10am to 8pm every day or by contacting 0844 415 5228, or online at www.gerry-cottles-circus.co.uk
