WOMEN are being urged to get their gladrags on for a fundraising tea party in the gardens of an Aberdeenshire stately home.
Maureen Webster, of Jesmond Road, Bridge of Don, plus friends Shona Stewart, of Sunside of Rayne, Durno, near Inverurie, and Val Melvin, of Leschangie, near Kemnay, are organising the event later this month at Haddo House.
It will raise money for bereavement charity Cruse, Breast Cancer Awareness, and the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
Lung cancer survivor Mrs Webster said it all started with a conversation about how they owned dresses which had hardly been worn.
“We thought we could have a party, and thought if we were doing that we may as well do it for charity. We wanted a fundraiser that would be fun, allow women to have an opportunity to get together in such a beautiful location, at the same time providing an opportunity to get dressed up and wear that hat that was bought for a wedding and never worn again,” she added.
The event, on Saturday, August 28, from 2pm-4pm, is aimed at women and costs £10 a ticket, which includes afternoon tea at the mad hatter’s table and a glass of pink bubbly.
There will also be horse carriage rides, raffles, games and stalls.
A small number of tickets are still available. For more information or to buy a ticket call Mrs Webster on 01224 820615 or 07826 751654 or e-mail skyemo@hotmail.co.uk
