Lee Bain and Thomas Borthwick play in their first national senior final tomorrow when they line up for Kingussie at Mossfield Park, Oban, trying to prevent Inveraray lifting the MacAulay Cup for the third year in succession.
Bain, who won an intermediate medal when helping Strathglass to a Balliemore Cup triumph 13 months ago, has been a revelation since joining Kingussie and will be a key figure against the free-scoring Argyll aces.
Thomas Borthwick, still only 17, has revelled in his attacking role since becoming a first-team regular this season and looks one of the game's brightest prospects.
Manager Steve Borthwick said: “It's a big test for Lee and Thomas, but they have MacTavish Cup winners’ medals under their belt this season, so there's no reason why they cannot make their mark on their national senior final debut.”
Another member of the Borthwick clan, defender Ian, should be fit to return to the squad, so Kingussie's only absentee will be longer-term casualty Lewis Munro.
Inveraray defeated Newtonmore in the 2008 MacAulay final then last year edged out Kingussie 4-3, so Jim Smillie's men feel convinced they can complete the hat-trick.
Fort William raider Bryan Simpson has had a lighter cast placed this week on his fractured knuckles, but will miss their Premier clash at An Aird and sit it out another fortnight.
Drew Ferguson, however, has had the plaster removed from his ankle and though he will need a couple of weeks before playing, he now has an improved chance of making the Camanachd Cup final.
A win would lift Peter MacIntyre's men level with leaders Newtonmore, with Fort having a precious game in hand as they chase only their second Premier title.
Fifth-placed Kyles, though, will be no pushovers and big Kenny MacDonald will be an obstacle to the home attack.
