FORMER Caley Thistle goalkeeper Michael Fraser is bitterly disappointed after being released by Motherwell.
The 26-year-old joined the Fir Park club on a pre-contact agreement from Inverness last summer, but struggled to hold down a first-team place.
He was back-up to John Ruddy last season and has found himself third in the pecking order this term, behind Darren Randolph and Lee Hollis.
Despite having nine months remaining on his contract, Fraser came to an agreement to leave early in order to find regular first-team football.
“I am really gutted to be leaving because I love the club and the people at the club,” he said.
“I stay in Uddingston, I really like the area, so I would like to stay down here and get a club in the central belt.
“The manager Craig Brown and assistant Archie Knox have been brilliant with me. They’ve not forced me out or cut me adrift. It’s just one of those things.”
“I would like to thank Motherwell for the opportunity and wish them all the best going forward.”
Dundee United have released forwards Francisco Sandaza and Jeno Myrie-Williams.
The pair were deemed surplus to requirements at Tannadice and chairman Stephen Thompson wanted them off the wage bill.
Sandaza, believed to be the club's highest earner, was a target for Swansea but his move to the Championship fell through and he agreed a package to leave United.
Myrie-Williams joined from Bristol City last summer but failed to make an impact and is likely to return to England after signing a deal to be released.
Experienced forward Danny Cadamarteri is the third player United wanted off the books, but the Englishman has returned to the first-team squad and will see out the rest of his contract.
