Caley Thistle at testimonial date for MacRae

ROTHES are hoping for a big crowd at Mackessack Park on Monday night when a strong Caley Thistle side provide the opposition in a testimonial for long-serving Speysiders’ captain Iain MacRae.
Rothes manager Graham McBeath said: “Terry Butcher has told me he will be putting a strong side through, so, hopefully, it will help to attract a few hundred along to the game.
“I gave Iain his debut as a 15-year-old when he came off the bench up at Brora during my first spell as Rothes manager and he has been an ever present in the side ever since.”
McBeath added: “The game kicks off at 7.30pm and, hopefully, he will get a decent crowd. He deserves it as he has been here for the last 11 seasons and is an ideal role model for the younger players.
“Iain looks after himself really well. He is only 26 now and I would imagine he has another 10 years left in him.
“Wherever I play him he never grumbles whether he is at left back, centre half, right midfield or in the centre of the park.
“He does a great job wherever he plays. He has a great attitude and never misses a training session.
“Iain is currently out of action with a hernia problem, but we are hopeful he will be fit enough to get at least some of the action against Caley Thistle.”
