Euro 2012 qualifying campaign

Another close shave for the Scots

Published: 09/09/2010

PHEW. A win is a win as the national football manager was keen to tell anyone listening after Scotland beat Liechtenstein 2-1 in the Euro 2012 qualifying campaign.

Nothing seems to come easy to Scotland’s players or their fans, except perhaps brushes with humiliation.

Craig Levein will be thankful, but everyone connected with the team knows that this one was down to luck.

Still, it does not matter if you win by one goal or 10, it is the win that counts. At least that is what the Liechtenstein manager will be telling his players when they play host to Scotland next year.

Aye a win matters! Saves having to put a positive spin on a draw, goalless or otherwise. Why change an established formula....the team will do the job the usual way...the hardest way possible and make us all sweat!!
