CONGRATULATIONS to Fort William on making it four Camanachd Cup wins in a row on Saturday.

Kingussie have long been the dominant force in Scotland’s other national sport, but it seems Fort have emerged as a side intent on challenging their place as the team to beat.

For the sport of shinty especially, competition and variety can only be good for the game.

I am a great traditionalist and it is really important games such as shinty are encouraged and preserved in our country.

In the areas where the sport is played, everything should be done to support the development of the game in schools which is why occasions such as Saturday are so important.

I do not follow the sport, but do know Ronald Ross is the Ronaldo of the Glens due to his incredible scoring prowess.

The more characters like him which the sport can create the better, and for the good of shinty as a whole, any media attention it can get is vital to keep the game alive.
