Education secretary accused of meddling over schools plans
EDUCATION Secretary Mike Russell has again been accused of meddling in a council’s proposals to shut primary schools in the west Highlands.
Mr Russell yesterday offered to work with Argyll and Bute Council on a new vision for rural education – provided it withdraws a closure plan due to be debated on Thursday.
Mr Russell insisted he was making this offer not in his capacity as Scottish education minister, but as the SNP parliamentary candidate for the area.
