Union claims it has been excluded from staff cuts bid

Union leaders claim they are being shut out by Aberdeenshire Council over planned cuts to hundreds of pupil support staff in north-east schools.

Representatives of public sector union Unison said several meetings had been cancelled as they attempted to address concerns among their members.

The local authority is pressing ahead with moves to reduce the number of learning support staff and auxiliaries as part of budget savings agreed upon earlier this year.
