Chief constable ‘horrified’ by plans
Grampian’s top police officer has insisted he has nothing personal to gain from opposing the formation of a single police force.
Chief Constable Colin McKerracher said his sole concern and “biggest desire” was to maintain the best possible service to keep north-east communities safe.
Mr McKerracher, who is expected to retire in the spring when his contract expires, said he and his colleagues were “horrified” about the prospect of a national police force. He said the change would lead to job losses and damage the service delivered in Grampian.
