Heat is on in battle for Golden Spurtle

A RALLYING cry has gone out to Scots to defend their country — not on the battlefield but over a hot stove.

The call to arms, or perhaps that should be a call to spurtles, comes as preparations are being finalised for this year’s World Porridge Making Championship at Carrbridge, Inverness-shire.

Organisers want more Scots porridge-makers to compete for the coveted Golden Spurtle trophy at this year’s event on Sunday, October 9.

Organiser Shona Rankin said: “The Scots have in the past defended their honour with claymores and muskets.

“Today, we call upon Scots everywhere to safeguard the World Porridge Making Champion title and ensure it remains in its homeland for another year.
