Ambulance workers urged to accept cash offer in row over rest breaks

AMBULANCE workers were urged last night to accept the new deal being offered to settle the row over staff being called out on their meal breaks.

All mercy crews are being offered £1,500 upfront and £100 if they respond to an emergency during their rest time. The offer – which unions will take to their members in a ballot next month – has been tabled after the deaths of Moray woman Mandy Mathieson and a young boy from Perthshire.

Last night, the Scottish Conservatives urged mercy crews to accept it.
