Cameron rethink on coastguard cutbacks

DAVID Cameron has opened the door for a surprise U-turn on coastguard cutbacks following the cruise-liner accident off the Italian coast.

The prime minister indicated that “changes” would be made if an inquiry into the Costa Concordia disaster found they were needed.

He made the comments after being quizzed in the Commons about plans to shake-up coastguard cover around Scotland.
