Huhne quits over claims ex-wife took penalty points for speeding

Chris Huhne resigned as UK energy secretary yesterday after being charged with perverting the course of justice.
The Liberal Democrat and his former wife, Vicky Pryce, will appear in court on February 16 to answer allegations that he persuaded her to take his penalty points for a speeding offence in 2003.
Mr Huhne declared he was innocent and would mount a “robust defence” against the charge, which carries a maximum sentence of life imprisonment.
