Wrap up tight – even if snow gives us a miss

The north and north-east will shiver through sub-zero temperatures this weekend – but will miss out on the heavy snow showers that will blanket the rest of the country.

Yesterday morning saw the mercury drop to almost -11C in many parts of Aberdeenshire and temperatures are not likely to heat up over much over the next few days.

But despite the frosty conditions, the snowfall predicted to cover the UK will bypass the Highlands and Grampian.
