Glendoe tunnel firm given health and safety warning

The company working to reopen the troubled Glendoe hydro scheme, above Loch Ness, has had to provide extra training for scores of staff after a warning from the Health and Safety Executive.

The HSE issued an improvement notice to civil engineers BAM Nuttall Ltd after inspecting work being carried out at the Fort Augustus site.

The company is involved in building a tunnel under the Monadhliath Mountains to bypass a rockfall in the original tunnel.
