Warning as cold snap returns

Motorists are being warned to take care on the roads in the Highlands and Grampian this morning after predictions of heavy snow overnight.

The Met Office issued a yellow warning for east Argyll, Perthshire, the southern Highlands and western parts of Aberdeenshire last night, forecasting up to 6inches of snow on higher ground.

Even lower areas were expected to see a few inches of snow, with the wintry weather predicted to last into this morning in Inverness-shire and Strathspey.
