Nicol forced to hang up his boots

Keith’s Derek Nicol has finally decided to hang up his boots after 17 seasons at Kynoch Park after failing to recover from a serious knee injury.

During a long and illustrious career the 38-year-old physiotherapist at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary scored 200 goals – the majority of them as a centre forward before being converted into a central defender eight years ago – in an incredible 582 games.
