Glenfiddich whisky family become billionaires

The success of Scotch whisky has helped the family behind one of the drink’s most famous labels become billionaires.

The Grant and Gordon family, owners of Dufftown-based William Grant & Sons, increased their personal wealth by £450million to an estimated £1.4billion in the past year.

The company behind Glenfiddich, which was founded in 1886 by William Grant, came second among Scottish entries on the Sunday Times rich list.
