Siege man threatened police with chain-saw

A former Forestry Commission worker was jailed for more than a year yesterday for threatening to “cut the legs off” police officers with a chain-saw during a five-hour siege at his Fort William home.

Brian MacDonald barricaded himself in his home on April 24 and repeatedly started and brandished the electric saw at officers who were watching through the living room window.

MacDonald also threatened to “do a Raoul Moat” and blind them if they tried to enter his house at Glen Nevis Place.
