Everest rescue hero

A NORTH-EAST dad climbing Mount Everest for charity battled through freezing temperatures and blizzards to rescue a fellow climber who had collapsed on the frozen slopes.

Neil McDonald discovered the helpless man, who was snow-blind, in a tangle of ropes and heroically got him to safety.

The 42-year-old, from Kintore, was “exhausted but ecstatic” last night after he reached the summit of the world’s highest mountain.
