Cars burn in multistorey blaze

A multistorey car park in Inverness was evacuated yesterday after a blaze broke out on the eighth floor.

Scores of people were ordered to leave the city centre building, which was cordoned off and closed for nearly an hour when a car caught fire and the flames spread to a neighbouring vehicle.

The fire started in a green Peugeot 406 parked in the Rose Street car park shortly before 2pm and spread to a blue Saab parked in front of it.
