£70m bill to bring hospital up to scratch

NHS Grampian needs to find more than £70million to upgrade Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.

The hospital needs huge investment as health board buildings suffer from a £170million maintenance backlog.

More than £10million is needed for ARI to meet fire, health and safety standards. Another £60million is needed to upgrade facilities to modern standards.

A paper going before the NHS Grampian board on Tuesday reveals the scale of work.
