Black fish four admit pocketing £6.5m in huge fraud

FOUR members of a well-known fishing family have admitted making illegal landings of herring and mackerel worth more than £6.5million.

The men were caught as part of a massive police investigation into black market fish in the north and north-east.

Operation Trawler has already led to a string of successful prosecutions and clawed back millions of pounds in fines and confiscation orders.

Yesterday, Andrew Tait, 50, William Tait, 50, Robert Tait, 45, and Peter Tait, 44 – all shareholders in the Fraserburgh-based Klondyke Fishing Co – appeared at the High Court in Edinburgh.
