IT companies urged to tap into Highlands’ skills pool

International information technology firms are being urged to tap into the north’s talented workforce and potentially create hundreds of jobs in the region.
Highland Council leader Drew Hendry said yesterday he wanted major firms like Microsoft and Fujitsu to either set up or expand on existing operations in and around Inverness. Mr Hendry said he would meet IT businesses in the coming months to find out what could be done to make the Highlands more attractive for investment and highlight the benefits of the area.
Japanese IT giant Fujitsu said earlier this year it wanted to add to its 150-strong workforce in the north.
