Tatties class act for these young farmers

Pupils at an Aberdeen school discovered for themselves the problems faced by farmers globally yesterday.

Their competition crop in the Royal Northern Countryside Initiative's Totally Tatties project proved more than disappointing for the class.

Just a handful of tiny tubers emerging from the soil in the pot in which they were growing after all the effort expended by the pupils’ efforts.

Teacher Alison Leslie said she was devastated for the 47 primary three youngsters at Cornhill Primary School.
