Philip back on duty after illness

The Duke of Edinburgh last night attended his first public engagement since being discharged from hospital almost a week ago following treatment for a bladder infection.

Philip chaired the Senior Colonels’ Conference at Buckingham Palace and hosted a dinner in his role as colonel of the Grenadier Guards.

The duke had spent the week convalescing after leaving Edward VII Hospital in London last Saturday. He had been in hospital for five nights.
