RBS axeing hundreds of jobs at UK branches

The Royal Bank of Scotland Group said yesterday it was axeing 618 jobs at the same time as creating 351 new roles in its UK financial-planning operations.

A spokeswoman for the bank said the changes would affect branches throughout the UK.

She was unable to say how many jobs were being cut or created in Scotland, where RBS employs about 14% of its near-100,000 strong UK workforce.
