Tree-planting boost call

Farmers and foresters were told yesterday to settle longstanding differences and work together to plant more trees in Scotland.
The call emerged in a report from the woodland expansion advisory group, set up a year ago by Rural Affairs Secretary Richard Lochhead to resolve concerns about the impact the Scottish Government’s tree-planting target could have on livestock production.
The report, and its 24 recommendations, will now be considered by Mr Lochhead who said he would respond to it within three months.
