Serco names new boss for NorthLink

The firm at the centre of a row over a £107million “black hole” in the value of the new north isles ferry contract has appointed a managing director to run the services.
Service company Serco said yesterday Stuart Garrett was taking up the reins at Serco NorthLink Ferries as it prepared to operate ferry services between the Scottish mainland, Orkney and Shetland.
Mr Garrett is operations and human resources director at the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company, said to be the world’s oldest continuously operating passenger shipping firm.
