Crimes in Grampian fall to ‘lowest level’ in many years

The number of crimes recorded by Grampian Police has fallen to one of its lowest levels in years.

Figures released by the Scottish Government yesterday showed that 29,226 crimes were recorded in 2011-12, down 5% on the previous year and 26% below 2006-07 when 39,749 were recorded.

Reductions were recorded in all five crime groups with violent crime being slashed by 21%.
