Grandad guilty of causing death by careless driving

A grandad who did not see a Stonehaven biker before he pulled out of a junction in his 4x4 has been found guilty of causing her death.

John Cameron told a court he did not see Jennifer Chalmers as he pulled out on to the town’s Arduthie Road from Westfield Road, and that he initially thought he had gone over a traffic island.

Yesterday the jury took less than two hours to convict him of causing the 53-year-old’s death by driving carelessly on January 25 last year.
