Artefacts reveal lawless past

Artefacts unearthed in the Highlands have revealed how lawless merchants operated across Europe just after the mediaeval period.

The complete set of merchants’ trade weights, stacked one inside the other and contained in a metal container, were found in the Black Isle.

They indicate a time when unscrupulous traders worked outside the village of Fortrose.
