Expansion of railway in north-east back on track

Plans for a railways revolution in the north-east aimed at boosting commuter links to and from Aberdeen are back on track.

Transport chiefs want more frequent services for travellers heading in and out of the city for work from towns such as Inverurie and Stonehaven.

And a wish-list of new stations has been drawn up – including Kintore, Persley, Kittybrewster, Cove and Newtonhill – which is facing major expansion with a new town at Chapelton of Elsick.
