Labour surprise: We’ll rethink Don crossing

ABERDEEN could still get a third bridge over the River Don after Labour leaders in the city last night offered to think again.

The surprise move over the congestion-busting project came as party chiefs on the city council held talks with their coalition partners.

Labour revealed it was willing to discuss alternative routes for a new crossing with Tory and Independent alliance members of the administration.

But Gordon Liberal Democrat MP Malcolm Bruce claimed it was a ploy to send the scheme “into the long grass”.
