Kinloss commander: I salute the community

THE station commander at RAF Kinloss has delivered a huge thank-you to the people of Moray as he gets ready to hand over his base to the Army.

Group Captain JJ Johnston hailed the community for the way they rallied round when the UK Government’s spending cuts axe fell.

He said locals had provided a “cushion” of support for him and his staff after the Ministry of Defence scrapped plans to replace the ageing Nimrod fleet.
