Riverside flood barrier ‘threatens soul of city’

PLANS to build 4ft walls along the riverside in Inverness to prevent flooding were last night demolished by community leaders.

Campaigners claim the council scheme for stone barriers along the River Ness in the heart of the Highland capital will destroy the soul of the city.

Inverness Civic Trust fears the walls between Ness Bridge and local beauty spot Ness Islands would block much-loved views of the river.
