An exhibition offering a once-in-a-generation chance to see the only two original letters with a direct link to William Wallace has opened to the public.

A 700-year-old letter, thought to have been in his hands, and the Lubeck Letter – the only known surviving document issued by Wallace – are on show at the Scottish Parliament in Edinburgh.

The rare exhibition runs for just four weeks because the letters’ age and fragility mean they can only be displayed for a short period.
