Six rescued as fishing boat sinks in North Sea
THE skipper of a north-east trawler that sank in a calm North Sea spoke last night of his disbelief at how quickly she had gone down.
Six men were on board the Banff-registered Audacious – 47 miles off Aberdeen – when they were forced to abandon ship about 3.30pm after the vessel started taking on water.
Speaking at his home, 25-year-old skipper David Gatt said: “Things happened quick. Really quick.”
The crew were rescued by the survey vessel Ocean Observer, which was in the area after leaving Aberdeen about 11.20am yesterday.
