Mystery over body of man found on beach

THE discovery of an elderly man’s body on an Aberdeenshire beach yesterday is being investigated by police.

The route to the popular sands at Blackdog, just north of Aberdeen, was closed off after a man walking in the area made the grim find close to the water’s edge.

Police, who sealed off the road using several vehicles, are now trying to establish the dead man’s identity.

A section of the sands about half a mile from the hamlet remained cordoned off by police for several hours after the 11.15am discovery.
