NHS Highland in new row over medic’s jibe

A FRESH row broke out over NHS Highland last night after a medic publicly branded a patient “demanding”.

Politicians and patient representatives have called on the health board to remove the comment, made on a social networking site, after it was criticised as showing “blatant disregard for patient care”.

Fears have now been raised that the comment could discourage people from seeking medical help and affect the health authority’s reputation, already hit by a damning report published earlier this month on hygiene at Raigmore Hospital in Inverness.

Last night, NHS Highland apologised for the comment – and insisted it had come from “a caring and highly professional member of staff”.
