New police ‘weapon’ unveiled in drugs crackdown

POLICE armed with the latest detection equipment launched a fresh crackdown on drug dealers and users last night.

They warned there would be no hiding place for people selling or buying illegal substances as a team of officers targeted licensed premises and their customers.

A device able to recognise particles of heroin, cocaine and cannabis as small as a millionth of a gramme was used to swab tables, toilet cisterns – and drinkers.
