Full steam ahead to Grantown

The Strathspey heritage railway is now on track for a major expansion.

Supporters of the plan to have the line eventually run between Aviemore and Grantown celebrated yesterday after overcoming two major hurdles.

The track design for two out of the three miles to extend the line towards Grantown was approved by the rail regulator, and Cairngorm National Park Authority planners granted permission for a track extension and a bridge over the River Dulnain.
