North-east poised for Scottish Open boost

THE north-east was handed a huge economic boost last night as it was revealed that Royal Aberdeen Golf Club will host the prestigious Scottish Open in 2014.

The event is expected to attract tens of thousands of fans and give local business a multimillion-pound shot in the arm.

The announcement was hailed by First Minister Alex Salmond as “fantastic news” for the historic club and the region.
