McBain is in the money as one-shot win clinches Lawrie title

Aberdonian Greg McBain won the 54-hole Paul Lawrie Invitational tournament at Deeside yesterday with a final round 68 to finish on seven-under par and pick up a cheque for £5,000, the biggest of his career.

The 28-year-old, who represents Gamola Golf in the city, but plays his golf at Newmachar, ended the tournament a shot ahead of runner-up Gareth Wright.
