Draft budget aims to boost jobs and housing

John Swinney pledged to boost jobs and the economy when he unveiled his proposed spending plans yesterday.

The finance secretary’s draft budget contained extra money for housing, education and green energy.

It also aims to safeguard earlier commitments such as free prescriptions, the council tax freeze, concessionary bus travel, free personal care and no university tuition fees being paid by Scottish students.
