Brace yourself for gale-force winds on way

Flooding is forecast in parts of Scotland today – but the north and north-east should escape the worst of the severe weather.

People in the Highlands and Grampian are nevertheless being warned to brace themselves for gale-force winds.

A Met Office amber alert has been issued for the Borders, Lothians and Fife areas where strong winds and rain have the potential to cause disruption.
