Lamont a poster girl for Tories – Sturgeon

Labour’s Scottish leader, Johann Lamont, was branded a “poster girl for the Tories” yesterday as she mounted a defence of a major policy shift by her party.

Earlier this week she called for an end to the “something for nothing” culture as she announced that Labour was setting up a group to look at the economy. She said taxes would have to rise or services cut to maintain the council-tax freeze, free university education and free prescriptions.

Yesterday, Deputy First Minister Nicola Sturgeon told MSPs: “If she is saying she wants to reverse all of these policies, don’t set up a commission, have the guts to say so and let the people of Scotland choose after that.”
